Ken and Sherry Pinnon established Pinnon Lake in 2010 to offer a relaxing get-away at their Southern Illinois Lake Cabins. Both Ken and Sherry have lived in Southern Illinois most of their life and have been active in their community, including their church and schools.
Sherry owned and operated several local retail businesses throughout her life. She has been active in gospel music her entire life and traveled with a gospel group for over ten years.
Ken has served on both the local school board and with the local water district. He has been a salesman and manager for several companies, including Pioneer Hi-Bred International and Country Financial. He has also farmed, raising cattle, row cropping corn, soybeans, and wheat. It’s on this very farm that Ken & Sherry erected their fine, southern Illinois cabins!
Ken and Sherry are parents of four children and twelve grandchildren and enjoy spending time with them as often as possible.
Pinnon Lake Cabins Southern Illinois were built in 2010 on the third generation farm in Union County Illinois. While you’re visiting these quaint, secluded cabins, you’ll have all the privacy you need and won’t have to see another soul unless you go out looking for it!
One of the best features of this beautiful location is the fact that, while you’re at the cabin you’re completely removed from the bustle and noise of the city, but you’re still within just a few minutes from downtown if you want to get out for some exciting Southern Illinois entertainment.
Just ten or fifteen minutes southwest along Lick Creek Blacktop, you can find several great restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores, and great local businesses of all kinds in the friendly small communities of Anna-Jonesboro. If you need even more options, you can head north about 20 miles or so and find yourself in the booming city of Carbondale, home of the Southern Illinois University Salukis if you’re interested in catching some live sports. You can also find great places to shop around town and at the University Mall, catch a movie at one of two multi-screen theaters, take in a live show at the historic Varsity Theater down town and catch up with the nightlife on the famous Carbondale Strip, dotted with great restaurants and live music.
Alternatively, you can hop on Interstate 57 North just a couple miles from the cabin and zip up to Marion for more shopping and dining or catch a Frontier League Baseball Game at Rent One Park. Take 57 South to Interstate 55 in Missouri, and try out world famous Lambert’s Cafe (home of throwed rolls) about an hour or so away in Sikeston, MO.
If parks and nature are more your thing, there’s plenty of hiking, exploring, climbing, and picnicking to be done at Giant City State Park (just south of Carbondale), Trail of Tears State Forest (northwest of Jonesboro), Lincoln Memorial Park (Jonesboro), Garden of the Gods (north of Golconda; southeast of Harrisburg), and the Shawnee National Forest (east of Vienna). Southern Illinois is also home to some of the best whitetail and waterfowl hunting in the world, and a hot spot for bird watchers as well!
Over the last several years, our area has come to be known for the multitude of incredible wineries & vineyards scattered throughout the region. In fact, Pinnon Lake Rental Cabins Southern Illinois is less than six miles from two fantastic vineyards!
